About us
Commonwealth Coatings Company is an independently owned and operated paint store in Lexington and an authorized Benjamin Moore retailer, founded in 2026 to bring real paint expertise back to the counter.
Quality coatings for every project
After years in the painting industry, managing retail locations and working in the field with contractors across the Bluegrass, Chris Walker always felt the retail experience should offer more.
He saw the need for a store with personal service, professional advice and a deep stock of top-quality products. A store with the same experience Monday through Sunday, where everyone behind the counter is a paint professional who can solve whatever walks through the door.
The answer is an ethical company where every employee is tied to the performance of the store and paid as the professional they are expected to be. That keeps Lexington's best talent behind the counter, so the experience never slips from one day to the next.
With the goal of becoming Central Kentucky's leader in the paint and decorating market, and with the support of Benjamin Moore, Chris opened Commonwealth Coatings Company in 2026.
We are locally owned and operated, and every sale stays with a Lexington business. Shop local, and come see us on Palomar Centre Drive.
